Meet the Team

Emma Greenland

Ivy House Stables is managed by Emma Greenland, who has over 24 years of experience in the equine industry and is from a showing, hunting and breeding background.

Emma took on Ivy House Stables as a new business in 2011, after working for Mrs McInnes at the Whalton Stud for 9 years. Emma's goal was to set up a Stallion and AI Centre to pursue her passion for the breeding side of the industry. The business has gone from strength to strength and Emma prides herself on the strong relationships she's built with partners, clients and customers alike.

The range of facilities at Ivy House Stables means Emma and her team are able to deliver 100% care and attention, whether that be in the Stallion Centre, Foaling unit, AI centre, full livery or Rehabilitation

Through Ivy House Stables Emma also provides apprenticeship training, in partnership with Equestrian Training Ltd, and mentoring for future industry talent.

Catherine Mason | Head Girl

Catherine joined the team at Ivy House Stables in December 2016 when she came for 6 weeks work experience on completion of her course in Racehorse Care and Riding at the Northern Racing College at Doncaster.

She quickly decided that she loved the rehabilitation side of the industry and started her intermediate apprenticeship with us at the end of January 2017.

Catherine is a valued member of the team!

James Knipe Dip WCF | Farrier

Emma and James have known each other for over 18 years and he has always been the Farrier for Ivy House Stables. He grew up farming and along with his family, breeding and producing top class show horses and ponies. This gives him that extra edge and eye for detail in his work. James is hard working and dedicated to the job. His stallion Helsington Dark Secret is promoted through Ivy House Stables Stallion Centre

Jonathan Place BVetMed BSc MRCVS | Stud Vet

Jonathan qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014, joining Frame, Swift and Partners in the same year. He grew up on a farm near Cockermouth and has worked with horses at home for many years. Jonathan covers all aspects of veterinary care within the practice but has a particular interest in equine and bovine breeding. Over the past few years he has built up a close relationship with Ivy House Stables & spends a good proportion of his working day at the stud during the busy breeding season.

Duggie | Maintenance

Duggie is Emma's partner and keeps the place spick and span so she can focus on the horses. He is the go to handy man at Ivy House Stables, always able and willing to deal with any maintenance on the yard.

"I cannot recommend Emma and Ivy House Stables enough for all aspects of horse care and the excellent equine facilities they have to offer."

- Lynne Parker, Armathwaite
